Police in Bondo sub-county has launched investigations into the apparent suicide of an 11-year-old boy whose body was found hanging on a tree at Karateng’ village within Uyawi sub-location Tuesday evening.
The body of Kevin Omondi, who was a grade 2 pupil, was found dangling from a tree with a rope around his neck at a grazing field near his parents’ home.
According to the Assistant Chief of Migwena West sub-location Mr. William Oreme who is currently acting in office for the area Assistant Chief, the boy is said to have gone to graze sheep in the field but failed to return home at the normal time the animals come back in the evening.
He said that this prompted his siblings to start looking for him only to find his body hanging on the tree at the grazing field.
Mr. Oreme told KNA that it is however not yet clear whether he committed suicide or if he was killed and his body hanged on the tree because the siblings decided to cut off the rope even before informing their parents.
The administrator stated that the body was removed to Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary to await a postmortem examination as investigations into the matter began.
