City lawyer Elizabeth Koki was suffocated to death – autopsy

Government pathologist Johansen Oduor has confirmed that Elizabeth Koki suffocated to death.

Koki was found dead in her bedroom on Friday, January 8, in Syokimau, Machakos County.

An autopsy released by Oduor done at Montezuma Funeral Home revealed that the deceased suffered injuries on the mouth which are consistent with a gag.

“SHE WAS SUFFOCATED TO DEATH,” DR ODUOR’S REPORT READ IN PART.

Preliminary investigations established that the main suspect, Eloges Paul Christian Kadima told detectives that he had earlier had a heated argument with Koki over some photos of a woman on Kadima’s phone.

On the night of her death, Koki has called Kadima to her Syokimau apartment to have a conversation about the photos.

A detective privy to the ongoing investigations yesterday told the People Daily that officers had also established that the two had frequent differences.

“THE MAIN SUSPECT HAS BEEN GRILLED AND FROM THE LOOK OF THINGS, THE TWO SEEM TO HAVE HAD AN ON-AND-OFF RELATIONSHIP. THEY ALSO HAVE A HISTORY OF FIGHTING,” SAID THE DETECTIVE WHO SPOKE IN CONFIDENCE AS HE IS NOT AUTHORISED TO SPEAK TO THE MEDIA SAID.

Kadima told detectives that Koki from the bed and hit her head on the floor, both investigations and the postmortem have established that she was suffocated to death.

In his statement to the police, Kadima claimed that upon realising that Koki was unconscious, he left the house and drove in her car to the Nairobi Central Business District (CDB), where he met a friend and narrated to him what had happened.

The friend later drove the car to Riruta while Kadima booked himself in lodging within the CBD, he told the police.

It is from the yet to be named lodging that he was arrested the following day.

A close family member to Kadima revealed that the two had planned to wed this March.

“WE HAVE BEEN PREPARING FOR THE WEDDING ONLY TO BE INFORMED THAT KOKI WAS NO MORE,” THE FAMILY MEMBER TOLD PEOPLE DAILY.
