From Being A Waitress To Now Studying Film In Netherlands, Former Generations: The Legacy Star Asanda Foji Shares Her Life Journey. These are the kind of stories that we need to constantly hear. So many successful people like Asanda Foji, have worked hard to be where they are. Their stories of resilience and hard work are so inspirational to say the least.
Just like many graduates out there, Asanda could not get employment immediately after completing her media and journalism course. The actress, businesswoman and fitness bunny had to make ends meet as a waitress.
Other side jobs she did was being a call center agent in Hyde park, earning money by the commission. She also worked at Avusa Media selling Newspaper subscriptions on the phone, getting paid by the number of subscriptions. Asanda then joined theatre coached by the Market Theatre practitioner Themba Mkhoma and performed without earning a cent.
Eventually she landed an acting job in the biggest show in South Africa Generations: The Legacy where she became a household name. Unfortunately, her contract wasn’t renewed for the second season, but still Asanda earned a living from her clothing business. She is now studying film in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
“It’s not interesting where you’ve been & your pain, people just want to see where you are now which is fair; Until someone thinks you just landed where you are then you have to explain something,” she said.
