‘Get used to it,’ Ben Pol defends painting his nails with girly polish

Bongo RnB star Ben Pol has finally spoken out about his viral photo of him spotting painted his multicoloured nails that caused an uproar.

In a candid interview with Millard Ayo, Ben Polexplained why he painted his nails and what it signifies.

“THE FIRST THREE FINGERS I PAINTED THE COLOURS OF THE TANZANIAN FLAG – GREEN BLACK AND GOLD – AND THE WHITE NAIL POLISH ON THE PINKY FINGER SIGNIFY PURITY, AS IN NO SHORTCUT, FAKENESS OR EVILNESS IN MY LIFE.”

Asked why prompted him to make such a controversial move, he said,

“I WAS AT THE PEDICURE AND MANICURE PLACE AND I THOUGHT TO MYSELF, WHY NOT GET MY NAILS PAINTED? AND I DID.”

The move saw him get massive criticism for such effeminate action. Ben Pol responded to this saying,

“THIS IS A MATTER OF ACCEPTING EMERGING TRENDS. LOOK AT IT THIS WAY, THE FIRST MAN IN TANZANIA TO BRAID HIS HAIR, HE MUST HAVE EXPERIENCED A LOT OF RESISTANCE FOR PULLING SUCH A MOVE, YOU WILL FIND THAT HE WAS EVEN DISCRIMINATED AGAINST BY THE COMMUNITY. NOW FAST TRACK TO TODAY, HOW MANY MEN WILL YOU FIND HAVE BRAIDED THEIR HAIR, PIERCED THEIR EARS OR EVEN THEIR NOSES? MANY, MANY PEOPLE. THE TREND CAUGHT ON AND IT WAS ACCEPTED BY ALL. ALL I CAN SAY IT, PEOPLE ARE JUST NOT USED TO SEEING THIS TREND. BUT IT WILL CATCH ON.”

He continued,

“YOU WILL HEAR IN THE NEWS THAT THERE IS A MAN WHO HAS MURDERED THE WIFE AND YOU WILL FIND THAT IT IS SOMEONE WHO DOESN’T HAVE A TATTOO OR DONE ANYTHING LIKE THIS – SHOWING HIS NAILS TO THE CAMERA – AT THE END OF THE DAY, WHAT MATTERS IS SOMEONE’S HEART, WHAT COMES OUT OF HIM HEART. WHAT THEY DO WITH THE OUTER BODY DOES NOT DEFINE WHO THEY ARE.”
