Media personality Catherine Wambua Soi has paid tribute to her late husband, KTN’s ex-sports anchor Robert Soi.
Robert Soi passed away on Wednesday after being hospitalized for a week
In a tearjerking post, Catherine narrated how she met Robert and how their romance led to a lifelong commitment to each other. She also highlighted some of his memorable last moments.
Catherine in a Facebook post wrote,
“ROBERT AND I HAVE LOVED EACH OTHER SINCE WE WERE KIDS.
WE MET THROUGH HIS COUSIN ALLAN IN COLLEGE. WE WERE BARELY IN OUR TWENTIES AND FULL OF HOPE, LIFE.
WE PROPERLY KNEW EACH OTHER WHILE WORKING AT KTN…AND YEARS AFTER HE TOLD ME “TELL YOUR MOTHER I’M COMING HOME” AND THAT’S HOW MR. & MRS SOI BECAME.
We were such opposites..Where he was outgoing and sociable, I was shy and reserved.
His energy and ability to light up any room he walked into amazed me.
He was the funny man in any situation, any event, any newsroom. He could effortlesslt make people laugh.
He was hilarious and silly, fun and crazy
HE WAS ALSO ONE OF THE BEST SPORTS ANCHORS IN THE COUNTRY AND HIS ENTHUSIASM AND PASSION FOR MOTOSPORT, GOLF AND ATHLETICS WAS UNPARALLELED. HE WAS AFTER ALL ROBERT SOI – THE GREAT, THE LEGEND AND THERE ARE ONLY A FEW OF THOSE.
In the last few years he became deeply spiritual. He would watch TD Jakes and Reverend Al Sharpton till late into the night and he talked about their sermons often.
We had so many dreams, fullfiled many, some were derailed by life and adulting…but wherever we were in, we somehow always found each other.
I loved him deeply. So deeply I could never be ok if he was not. He loved me too. I know that.
I will continue with projects he had started and protect fiercely what he cherished and was proud of.
MY HEART IS BROKEN INTO A MILLION PIECES.
HE WAS ALWAYS OUR ROBERTO… WILL FOREVER BE MY ROBS.
MY PERSON HAS GONE AND I THANK GOD HE WENT KNOWING I’VE ALWAYS HAD HIS BACK -NO MATTER WHAT…OR WHERE WE WERE IN LIFE.
REST WITH THE ANGELS BABY. SAY HI TO MY DAD. DON’T HARASS HIM TOO MUCH.
I’LL SEE YOU THERE.”
