American RnB singer Ashanti has tested positive for COVID-19.
The artist, who was recently on vacation in Kenya, revealed that she tested positive just before her highly anticipated Versus battle with Keysha Cole.
She shared the sad news through her Instagram account in a post which read:
‘HEY, Y’ALL I CAN’T BELIEVE I’M SAYING THIS BUT I TESTED POSITIVE FOR COVID-19. I’M OKAY AND NOT IN ANY PAIN.’
The talented songwriter addressed this message to fans who were eagerly waiting for the RnB Versus battle between her and Keysha Cole. The event has been postponed to 9th January 2021 to give Ashanti time to recover.
She has come out to state that she did not contract the virus in Kenya. Speaking in an Instagram live over the weekend, Ashanti said,
“PEOPLE THOUGHT THAT OHH YOU SHOULDN’T BE TRAVELING. NO IT DID NOT COME FROM TRAVELLING IT CAME FROM A FAMILY MEMBER WHO I GAVE MY HOUSE TOO. WHERE I THOUGHT I WAS SUPPOSED TO BE SAFE.”
Ashanti said she had a blast while in Nairobi saying,
“SHOUT OUT TO EVERYONE IN NAIROBI. THE LOVE OUT THERE IS AMAZING, AMAZING AMAZING. I’M DEFINITELY COMING BACK, COVID FREE OF COURSE!”
