Radio Jambo host Mbusii has talked about his rise to fame. According to him, it’s been a journey of dedication and perseverance.
Speaking during an interview on Jessy Junction the father of three said that his journey to being on the radio started in a very ‘funny’ way.
‘BACK IN THE DAY I WOULD DO TRAFFIC UPDATES ON GHETTO RADIO.
BUT AT SOME POINT THAT SEGMENT WAS NOT DOING SO WELL SO I WAS MADE A MESSENGER. NLIKUA NATUMWA VITU KAMA SIGARA,LETTERS AMONG OTHER THINGS.
I THEN BECAME A MESSENGER IN THE OFFICE FOR TWO AND A HALF YEARS.
I WAS BEING PAID KSH 3,000 PER MONTH. THEY WOULD EVEN FORGET TO PAY ME, I HAD TO REMIND THEM,’ HE JOKED.
‘AS A MESSENGER A CERTAIN PRODUCER AT THE TIME WOULD SNEAK ME IN AND TEACH ME A FEW THINGS.
APART FROM CLEANING I WAS IN CHARGE OF CLEANING THE STUDIO. I MADE SURE THAT MY CLEANING TIME COINCIDED WITH THE TIME THE STUDIO WAS IN USE.
AS I DID MY CLEANING WHILE I WATCHED HOW THEY DID THEIR STUFF.
SO WHEN AN OPPORTUNITY AROSE I WAS GIVEN A CHANCE TO HOST ‘GOTEANA’ AND I BECAME A HIT.’
Asked on if it’s true he earns a six-figure salary, he said,
‘BLOGS WILL SAY ANYTHING TO GET NUMBERS. I EARN A GOOD SALARY; IT’S NOT WHAT THEY SAID IT IS BUT INAKARIBIA HAPO,’ THE FATHER OF THREE ADDED.
