Kenyan spin master Martin Kimathi also known as DJ Moz has shared how stressed he was before going to ask for his in-law’s permission to wed their daughter.
Moz who is married to Deborah Kimathi shared a throwback of themselves in Scotland where his wife hails from.
‘#TBT TOOK THIS PHOTO IN APRIL 2008 IN SCOTLAND. THIS WAS AN INTERESTING WEEK FOR ME. I WENT TO SCOTLAND TO ASK DEBS DAD FOR HER HAND IN MARRIAGE. THIS WAS AN INTERESTING EXPERIENCE FOR ME BECAUSE HERE, IN MY CULTURE, IT’S THE PARENTS AND YOUR UNCLES/RELAS WHO GO TO THE IN-LAWS TO ASK FOR MARRIAGE.’
Moz said that he was scared but decided to man up.
I WAS FREAKING SCARED BECAUSE I WAS ALONE, NO CREW TO BACK ME UP, I DIDN’T KNOW HOW TO DO IT, AND WHAT HIS RESPONSE WOULD BE. HER ENTIRE FAMILY KNEW WHY I HAD TRAVELLED TO THE UK AND WONDERED WHY I WAS TAKING SO LONG TO ASK DEBS MUM, DAD AND AUNT DROPPED HINTS…BUT I WAS TOO NERVOUS. I FINALLY GOT THE CONFIDENCE ON MY LAST DAY IN SCOTLAND.
‘I WOKE UP JUST BEFORE HER DAD LEFT FOR WORK AND I ASKED HIM FOR PERMISSION AND HE SAID YES.
The couple got married and now have three children and they are still thriving.
