Investigative journalist John Allan Namu revealed some disturbing information on his Twitter account.
Namu narrated a short tale of his scenario when heading to work having to help a young man who had fainted in Nairobi right outside the Kenya Films Commission offices due to starvation and fatigue.
However, fans warn him that it could be a case of a conman tactic.
The celebrated journalist narrated the scene of witnessing a group of people who seem to be performing first aid on a man who had fainted and went ahead to call an ambulance although it had not arrived yet.
Namu joined the group to offer a helping hand and decided to take the young man to the hospital instead.
On his Twitter account, Namu revealed the man looked like he was 19 years old, and he was taking care of his 10-year-old sister and has been unemployed since June.
From his post, fatigue and starvation could be the cause of the whole incident since Martin Muteithia as identified had walked having not eaten for two days from Pangani to the Kenya Films Classification offices, where he was job hunting.
The journalist in the post says that the reason for sharing Martin’s information is for anyone with an opportunity to chip in and help out.
However, the response of Kenyans on Twitter is shocking. Some commented on his post that the said man is a con artist who uses the same tactic to con innocent Kenyans and that the journalist was just but a victim of the new survival tactic in Nairobi.
“ALLOW ME TO BREAK IT TO YOU SIR, THIS KID/GROWN ASS MAN IS A FRAUDSTER……CONNED US FEW YRS BACK, HAD THE BABY SIS ON TOW, THAT TIME IN FULL SCHOOL UNIFORM….HAHAHA, ATI THIS IS MY SISTER’S KID, I WAS ON MY WAY TO THE KID’S DAD’S WHO’S ALSO OUR DAD. WE USED TO LIVE WITH HIM…” NARRATED ONE OF HIS FAN.
Namu later on expressed his disappointments if their claims were true and thanked his fans for alerting him and narrating their horrible experiences using the fainting tactic but promised to look into the matter.
