Actress Monix Chege breathed her last on December 21, 2020 after being hospitalised with breathing difficulties.
She is famed for her pivotal role in the KTN Drama series Kilimani Dynasties actress.
On December 6, 2020, Monix took to her Facebook page to inform Kenyans that she had been admitted to hospital.
”YEA THOUGH I WALK THROUGH THE VALLEY OF THE SHADOW OF DEATH, I WILL STILL SING OF YOUR PRAISES MY GOD. AND WHEN I FEEL LIKE LOSING FAITH AND ROLL IN A BALL OF DESPAIR CRYING, I WILL CHOOSE TO BE STILL AND KNOW THAT YOU STILL ARE GOD! DON’T CALL ME PEEPS, MY TEAR GLANDS ARE LIKE MASINGA DAM WAITING TO ERUPT. SEND ME LOVE AND WELLNESS AND HEALING,” SHE POSTED THIS TOGETHER WITH PHOTOS OF HER ON OXYGEN SUPPORT.
Monix had revealed that she had a lung problem and had constantly been on oxygen support. She was put in isolation but after her covid-19 test came back negative, she was allowed visitors and removed from isolation.
Her fellow actress, announced the sad news of her demise 15 days later, on Monday, December 21, 2020.
Actress Stephanie Maseki announced,
“IT IS YET ANOTHER VERY SAD DAY FOR THE CREATIVE INDUSTRY. WE HAVE LOST ANOTHER ACTOR MONIX CHEGE OF THE KALIMANI DYNASTY SERIES OF KTN HOME. SINA USEMI MIMI ILA NASHUKURU NILIPATA KUMJUA. LET’S PRAY FOR HER SOUL TO REST IN PEACE AND FOR HER CHILDREN. MAY GOD COMFORT US ALL.”
During her hospital stay, Monix was always upbeat and inspirational.
Her very last post that was put up 3 days before her death read,
“GOOD MORNING MY STRONG PEOPLE, COME LET’S BE STRONG TOGETHER 💪🏾. A TIME TO BE STRONG 💪🏾”
She was in the high dependency unit after her lungs collapsed.
“BACK TO HDU. SOMEONE TELL MY LUNGS TO PLEASE BREATHE.”
In another diary entry about her stay in the hospital, Monix wrote,
I FEEL WELL
I FEEL WHOLE
I FEEL BLESSED
I SHOULD BE OUT OF HERE IN A DAY OR TWO
THANKS GUYS FOR THE LOVE
YOU HAVE GIVEN ME LIFE.❤️”
One of the most moving posts was where she advised her fans to always wear a mask.
“IN THIS NEW ADVENT OF WEARING FACE MASKS, MANY OF US CAN’T WAIT TO GET HOME OR TO THE CAR TO YANK IT AND TOSS IT.
“THESE MASKS ARE A NUISANCE.,,,,,ZINABORE..” WE LIKE TO QUIP…..
Well, I have had a mask permanently lodged on my face for 100 hours now, and another little nasal going thru into my nose…up until my ninjas spring back 100%🤷🏽♀️….and am still grateful
Today I ask that you consciously wear your mask with a smile even if it’s only you who can feel your smile. Smile for your two little ninjas who keep you animated, smile that you have the option of removing them and putting back whenever you like. It’s a privilege!!!
This girl Frida is my ninja at the Premier HDU!!! She is quiet, guarded and when I played Huniwachi she joined me in worship and we sang….oooookay 🙄🙄I hummed I cant sing yet. She sang with me
There is another Ninja here called Irene Musumba. A real mother. Thinks she is my mother and tells me off like she is my mother. She is amazingly warm. I love her. She told me she has four daughters big like me…all doing amazing stuff. Am in good hands
So, my peeps, as usual, tap your ninjas and say thank you❤️
Our sincere condolences to Monix’s family and friends for their loss. May she rest in eternal peace.
